MSSC Scheme Rules & Mathematical Formula

Mahila Samman Savings Certificate is a specialized sovereign fixed-income certificate introduced by the Ministry of Finance to promote financial autonomy and high-yield short-term savings for women.

1. Compounding Formula

A = P × [1 + (r ÷ 400)]^(4 × t)

Where P is the principal deposit (max ₹2L), r is 7.5% annual rate, and t is 2 years (8 quarterly compounding periods).

2. Partial Withdrawal & Premature Rules

  • Up to 40% of eligible balance can be withdrawn after 1 year.
  • Premature closure allowed on compassionate grounds (illness / death).
  • Voluntary premature closure after 6 months incurs a 2% interest penalty (5.5%).
