EPF Calculator 2026 (Employees Provident Fund)
Project your EPF retirement corpus with age progression, salary increments, employer contributions, and 8.25% EPFO rate.
EPF Parameters
Projected with the EPS wage ceiling held at ₹25,000 (in effect from 17 September 2026). The ceiling is revised from time to time — it stood at ₹15,000 from 2014 until this change — and each rise moves a little more of the employer’s 12% into EPS, so a long projection is on the optimistic side.

The Employee Provident Fund Framework: Mechanics of India’s Largest Social Security Net
The Employee Provident Fund (EPF), administered by the EPFO, represents the primary retirement anchor for salaried Indian employees. Under statutory rules, an employee contributes 12% of Basic Pay + DA, which is matched equally by the employer (split between EPF and the Employees' Pension Scheme, EPS).
Employer 12% Contribution Split
Of the employer’s 12% contribution: 8.33% (capped at ₹1,250 per month based on ₹15,000 wage ceiling) diverts to the EPS pension pool, while the remaining 3.67% flows into your EPF account balance.
Section 10(11) ₹2.5 Lakh Tax Threshold
Annual employee contributions exceeding ₹2,50,000 per financial year generate taxable interest (taxed at your personal income slab rate in a segregated non-concessional PF ledger).
Employee Provident Fund (EPF) FAQs
Important statutory rules regarding EPF interest, transfers, and withdrawals.
How is EPF interest calculated and credited to my UAN account?
EPF interest is calculated monthly on the closing running balance of your account, but is officially credited to your EPF ledger annually after notification by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Is EPF withdrawal completely tax-free upon leaving a job?
EPF withdrawals are 100% tax-free if you have completed at least 5 years of continuous service (across one or multiple employers via UAN transfer). Withdrawals before completing 5 years attract TDS under Section 192A.
Can I voluntarily contribute more than 12% toward my provident fund?
Yes. Through the Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF), you can contribute up to 100% of your Basic Pay + DA. VPF earns the identical guaranteed interest rate as EPF (8.25%).
